Reuben Legge is a multi-instrumentalist composer, performer, teacher, and bandleader.

Completing a Bachelor of Music at Monash University in 2015, he studied and performed with jazz pioneers such as George Garzone and Joe Lovano. He has performed with musicians such as The Teskey Brothers and Archer, and recorded with JK-47, Jimmy Dowling, and Sun Salute.

Reuben has been mentored by some of Australia’s premier musicians including members of The Cat Empire and Julien Wilson, one of Australia’s leading saxophonists.

He started playing piano at the age of 4, and the saxophone at age 9. He had his first professional gig at 17 with his 10-piece funk band ‘The Wanderer’ which went on to win prizes at Queenscliff and St Kilda music festivals.

Reuben completed a Master of Teaching at Melbourne University in 2021 and has taught instrumental music and directed bands in high schools since 2019. In 2022 he directed the Brunswick Community Gospel Choir and delivered a music education project in remote Northern Territory.

From 2018 to now, he has arranged, recorded, directed and booked for his own project, Belly Savalas, as well as the award-winning band, Ukulele Death Squad which has toured Europe 3 times. To date he has recorded and produced 2 studio EPs with Ukulele Death Squad, and an 11 track album with Belly Savalas.
